- Prices do not reflect the price of $330 lock which we will bill separately after your order. After you place your order, you will get an email with instructions on how to pay for your lock. (By separating the billing we are able to avoid excise tax complications.)

$1230 total Standard Maple (approx. 5-35% curl) or Cherry. $900 plus $330 lock billed separately
$1400 total if Fancy Maple (approx. 35-65% curl) or Walnut. $1070 plus $330 lock billed separately

Description
- Styling from the 1820s based on the work of Whitson in western North Carolina
- Stock has a pull of about 13.75” and a drop of approximately 3 5/8” and no cast off
- Available in curly maple, walnut or cherry wood or provide your own stock (2 " by 61" by 7" minimum blank size)
- Buttplate is approximately 1.375” in width and 4.5” in height.
- Iron mounted
- 44” custom profiled barrels. Breech .938” and waist approximately .700”. A very nice contoured barrel. It comes standard in square bottom rifling.
- Kibler's CNC Ketland Flintlock
- Kibler's CNC machined double set triggers.
- Stock CNC machined for extremely close tolerances and fine surface finish
- All holes drilled in the stock.
- Minimal work required for part fitting.
- Barrel has all sight dovetails cut, the underlugs are machined into the barrel, and the barrel is drilled and tapped for a White Lightning style touch hole liner which will come pre-installed
- Breech plug is fully machined and shaped and comes fit and installed

In the white

This service is available as an add on to a kit gun order. This is $700 for this service.
A gun provided "in the white" will be completely assembled and functional. The wood will need sanded and finished. The metal will also benefit from some cleanup. This is typically a little light filing on the rough spots followed by a little polishing with abrasive paper. The metal can be left in this condition or can be blued, browned, aged etc.
Your kit will arrive assembled, ready for you to customize and finish.
Finished rifles
We recommend the work of talented and experienced gunsmith, Chuck Edwards, for those who would like additional finishing work done on their Kibler Rifle. He can be reached at (573) 421-5098 and his online page is found on Facebook. He has finished out many Kibler rifles and does fantastic work. The pricing will vary depending on the work and should be discussed with Chuck.
The Southern Mountain Rifle is a high quality flintlock kit. Kibler has done a great job with these and I am proud to own one. Mine is in .36 caliber and shoots great out to about 150 yards. I can't wait to try it out on some Mississippi squirrels and deer!
These component kits are admirable in their quality and architecture. The inletting
is consistently precise. However the lock that arrived with this kit had a hidden flaw that allowed the frizzen to fracture at the juncture of the face and the pan.
The exposed grain structure was very fine but the beginning of a fracture had
probably begun during heat treatment and let go when I snapped the frizzen closed. Things happen when you’re dealing with heat treated components yet
I’d never experienced a broken frizzen after many years of shooting firelocks.
This is probably a one-off and in no way tarnishes my admiration for the
Kibler enterprise.

Everything arrived in great shape and in less time than I expected. As stated, the southern will take a little more work than the kits done on the 5 axis machine. The stock had one small inclusion on the butt that I would not expect for fancy maple but I think will be unnoticeable after finish. All in all I am pleased up to this point but I am just at the beginning stages. I am approaching archery season here so I have not had much time to work on it. I will report back once I have completed it.
Received the southern mountain rifle a week before my birthday, Better than I thought possible. So light and went together so easy, Should be fun to shoot, Can't wait to try it out. Great Job

Liquid Shipping
Liquids will not ship in the kit box. There are different regulations that apply to the chemicals that we sell and they will need to ship ground, when the kits will ship USPS Priority Mail. Plus, it would really stink if a liquid were to leak on your beautiful new kit!
Order tracking
You will receive tracking information when your item ships. For kits, you will be contacted before shipment and after shipment so there is no need to worry about a kit box shipping when you are out of town. All other packages will ship when available and you will be emailed a tracking link.
