Everything I bought for parts right on the money every time he's going to be my that's Kibler is going to be my new go-to guy because you can't find decent parts out there anymore and if he wants to get into the all-around you know buying the parts on the side what she looks like he's already starting to do he'll make a lot of money he's very precise I enjoy doing business with them I'd be by in a couple more guns right now but I had a daughter that passed away from fentanyl and I lost my older brother a couple months after that and you know so things have been kind of up in the air right now but God bless him God bless all their employees keep up the good work I wish I could come and work for him I love working I build custom bows I'm a gunsmith I went to school and got my associate's degree up here at the Lassen county college.

Used Tannic Acid inaccording to Jim’s YouTube

Used Tannic Acid in combination with Iron Nitrate according to Jim’s YouTube video, it gets awfully dark so you must be ready to do a lot of rubbing back and then adding stains/tints to warm up the colors. If I use it in the future, probably will do one coat of Tannic and one coat of Iron Nitrate. It does produce a finish with a lot of contrast.

Tannic Acid was a good start

Combination of Tannic Acid and ferrous Oxide gave me the colors I wanted. I followed the enclosed instructions to the letter and the process was simple and straightforward. Then I went with ferrous oxide, and lastly I added one rag-swipe of dark yellow aniline dye, then finished with Tru-oil.

Iron Nitrate Aqua Fortis Finish

Real nice product. Although originally intended to bring out the grain in curly maple, I applied it to American walnut in my recreation of a Charlottesville Musket. The result was a permanent dark reddish finish. Blushed with a heat gun. Performed as expected. Very pleased with the results. Also used remainder to patina some metal.

This is a fine kit that goes together better than any muzzle loader I’ve ever assembled. Most parts fit like they grew there. The trigger plate required just a bit of filing, and the lock inlet took a little scraping. Now they look like they grew there too. Jim Kibler has designed an awesome rifle that nearly anyone with patience can assemble into a fine Hawken.

A flash in the pan

Flints are good but not all are useable as is. Will try to reknapp a few . They are inexpensive enough to experiment with. I’m using one on my.50 now. Throws a decent spark but no shower.

10 out of 10

I have been assembling flintlock long and small arms since the Bicentennial and found the Kibler Woodsrunner kit to be a perfect first assembly project for the beginner. The stock may require very little final sanding prior to staining and has been in-letted for the hardware. I purchased my kit with carving already done. The carving makes a nice change. For those who feel like a challenge get the stock plain and do your own carving. The Hardware is excellent quality and is predrilled and requires little fine tuning. The You tube assembly videos are an excellent help tool if you have questions. For the more adventurous customers, Jim mentions in the videos a few alterations that can be done. I found the Kibler Woodsrunner kit to be an excellent value. 10 out of 10.

Another great rifle from Kibler

Another great rifle from Kibler.
The Kibler JK Hawken is amazing, great fit and finish. The rifle is very easy to put together, the only time consuming part is sanding the steel parts to a finish that will look good after the browning process.

Round-Faced English Lock Mainspring

Replacement Mainspring for English lock

I purchased a spare mainspring and featherspring for the round faced English lock. Let me dispel any notion that either of the original parts failed or broke on the lock. I purchased the parts because of the proven theory that if you have a spare spring in your shooting pouch, it will not break while you are in the field. The parts themselves appear perfect and are likely a drop-in fit with the proper spring vice (also an advisable addition to your shooting pouch). High quality and friendly service as usual from Kibler’s .

New Jersey and New York Customers

State regulations require that certain rifle kits be transferred through a licensed Federal Firearms Dealer (FFL). Although our muzzleloaders are antique-style black powder rifles, New York and New Jersey law treat them differently than federal law. To remain compliant, we must follow the process below:

Step 1: Place Your Order
• Complete checkout as usual.
• You’ll receive an order confirmation email, followed by a reminder with instructions for your FFL transfer.

Step 2: Select a Local FFL Dealer
• Choose a licensed dealer in your area who is willing to handle the transfer.
• Providing this dealer information to us is the customer’s responsibility.
• If you need help locating a dealer, we’re glad to assist.

Step 3: Dealer Sends License
• Your chosen dealer must send us a copy of their Federal Firearms License before shipment.

• The license can be sent directly to us by fax (202-217-4102) or email (info@kiblerslongrifles.com).
Once we receive the documentation, we’ll release your rifle for shipment.
