dove tails hard to drill with the drill bit

Be very careful with the drill bits that come with the kit they can break or get stuck in the dove tails of the barrel I had to use drill bits made for drilling metal to get through the dove tails. Besides that nothing was wrong with the barrel

Colonial Barrel Swap

I had originally purchased the Colonial Rifle Kit with a .54 smooth bored barrel. The person I had intended the rifle for decided that he wanted a .50 rifled barrel instead, so I ordered the replacement.

The swap out was easy. The new barrel fit in my current fore stock and muzzle cap perfectly. The tang was tight in the inlet, but I filed a tad more draft in the tang and the whole barrel dropped right in place. I used Jim’s drilling jig to drill new pin holes in the barrel lugs and those all lined up perfectly. I compared hole locations between the two barrels and they matched locations in the lugs exactly. The tang bolt lined up with the trigger plate perfectly. I did have to enlarge the hole through the tang bolster to allow the rear lock bolt line up with and engage the lock bolster, but that was a simple operation.

If you want to make your Kibler Colonial rifle more versatile, I highly recommend that you consider buying one of the Colonial Rifle replacement barrels. Swapping out barrels only requires some minor fitting that you are already familiar with from assembling your rifle to begin with. With options of smooth and rifled barrels in .50, .54, and .58, you should be able to cover any target or hunting need you may encounter.

Needed a smooth bore

I had a 54 cal colonial kit I needed to build and was invited to a smooth bore match next month so ordered a 58cal smooth bore and finished the rifle. Jim only builds and sells top quality rifles & parts. Now I've got to order all the parts to complete the 54 cal.

Shipping

Liquid Shipping

Liquids will not ship in the kit box. There are different regulations that apply to the chemicals that we sell and they will need to ship ground, when the kits will ship USPS Priority Mail. Plus, it would really stink if a liquid were to leak on your beautiful new kit!

Order tracking

You will receive tracking information when your item ships. For kits, you will be contacted before shipment and after shipment so there is no need to worry about a kit box shipping when you are out of town. All other packages will ship when available and you will be emailed a tracking link.

Get in touch

If you have questions, feel free to email us at info@kiblerslongrifles.com or give us a call at 330-551-5844. Even if you have to leave a message, we promise to get back with you right away. Bree can answer most questions and she will be sure to ask Jim when needed.
