Might be nice to thread the rod 10-32. Then have an 8-32 adapter screwed on. That would keep the bore guide from falling off if the jag was unscrewed. It would also make the rod work with the common ball puller screws that are threaded 10-32. Mine are all 10-32 as bought from Track.

Compared to your outstanding flintlock and kit the barrel is way below those standards. To start it shot worse than .58 smoothbore it replaces on the Colonial at 50 yds. After 9 plus (lost count) trips to range, 2 sheets of maroon scotchbrite and one sheet of white SB it is finally getting 2" 5-shot groups at 50 yds. Today I could load .530 ball and 0.018 patch without use of a hammer but its still very difficult. Will try more white SB. Loads with .520 balls load "normally" based on decades of shooting. However, accuracy is missing and patches are destroyed.
