Ordered Extra Fancy maple got a 3” to 4” blemish of heart wood on the side. This blank should have been sold as blemished. Seen blemished ones better than what I got. Had to go real dark to hide it. Some fit problems that were a little more than expected. Had local gunsmith work on trigger system to get it to work. Shot deer with it just expect more for the price
I haven’t had to use it yet
This is my first kit, and it is machined so well it almost falls together. The wood was much better than I expected for a standard maple stock. One minor issue with the rear sight dovetail but they are fixing the issue for me. I couldn't be happier with the service and the quality right down to the packaging. A+ to the Kibbler team and the Southern Mountain Rifle. Just buy one you won't regret it.
I am a woodworker rather than a gun builder, so somewhat different skill sets. Have not done much with it yet, but seems to do the job in my short trials. Weight and grip feel very good. I was disappointed in the quality of the wood. Completely straight grain with substantial sap wood. I think it will function well, but expected much better curl from the pictures on the website and no sapwood at all. Maybe I will do a follow-up in 6 months after I've had a chance to really use it and learn it. This is a finesse tool meant for light cuts and not for hand chopping mortices and tenons.
