Colonial American Longrifle Kit

I've had so much enjoyment putting my Kibler's together. I'm an armorer modern stuff. Present Arms Inc. To build what our ancestors used gives so much appreciation for their skills. I'm waiting on my 3rd Kibler, I have on order a Fowler. My next project.

I have finally taken the time to express my appreciation for everyone at Kibler’s LongRifles that had anything to do with my amazing kit. I ordered it last yesr and it arrived well before Christmas. It was still considered my Christmas present and MAN! Did Santa do a good job!!!! I have always liked the big bores and when I saw the 58 colonial rifle I decided it was the one. I ordered it in extra fancy Maple. It looks more like exhibition grade or better. (But I have read comments in various forums about Jim always giving a better grade or at the very least a selection at the higher end of a particular grade that is ordered). I agree with them now. THIS is how businesses are built! Putting it together was a breeze. Only a minuscule amount of wood needed to be shaved off the tang area and that was done. I did some relief carving on the stock, and tang area and the fore-end. I’ll admit I was absolutely scared to death about making the first cut into that gorgeous wood, but it turned out beautifully! I engraved and added a toe plate and some silver wire inlay on the patchbox and around it. This has been an absolute dream rifle that I have been wanting for 5+ years now. I have not been disappointed in the least. If you are “on the fence” about whether you should spend the money on a Kibler Kit, climb down and start making your order. Whether it’s a Colonial style or a Southern Mountain style, or maybe a Fowler, you will get evert bit of your money’s worth and more. When you but a kit from him. Sure, you’ll see other places offering kit at much lower costs, but by the time you get tired fighting the lock into place, filling in the oversized gaps, you’ll wish you would have spent just a little bit more money and got one of these.

3rd kit I've done. 1st woodsrunner. 2nd SMR. Definitely heavier than the other kits. But it balances really really nice. Its in 54 cal. I didn't pin the nose cap. Inspiration from the woodsrunner. I drilled and tapped instead.. really impressed with the kit. Looking forward to taking it out soon.

Ok...so I previously submitted a review during the building process because, yes, it was that good. Now I've completed my Colonial and taken it out to the range and can update what I wrote before.

So, the kit finished up nicely and I tried a lot of things I have never contemplated for something I put together: molding lines, some incised carving, insetting a former hat brass (bronze, in reality, once the plating was stripped away), acid etching the side plate, putting a brass end on a patchbox and so on. Overall, it came together quite well and I have received numerous compliments....and a good chunk of those need to be directed back to Jim and his staff for making such a good product.

Now, as for the range. I put on the taller rear sight (I heard the stock ones tended to be a bit low) and eyeballed thing to be centered. At the range, working up a charge, the rifle put balls consistently into the central red zone. When I found a node (load that works very well for my combination), man, did this thing prove that I'm the limitation to how well it can shoot!

If you ever have a doubt, don't! Fantastic product, fantastic service and outstanding quality.

High quality kit that took just the right amount of fitting work for a novice to get into this and gain a little experience. The kibler team is very responsive through the order process and after. Great route for a first time kit build for someone that cares for authenticity.

A beautiful kit, will executed, you would have to have a skill level of "O" not to be able to assemble a nice rifle. Excellent wood, the wood to metal fit was exceptional.

I bought this as my first rifle kit, it was easy enough for me to build, Jim has listened to feedback of his customers and it shows. It went together quickly and looks beautiful. 10/10 do recommend, and i will be buying my next kit here. Likely the southern mountain rifle.

I ordered the kit from Germany and everything went smoothly. Since I didn't really know much about the different maple grades, I first sent an email to Kibler's, who replied with several pictures of the three variations. I was very pleased with the service. When I'm done with the project, I'll send pictures of the rifle.

Got this kit in smoothbore 54 cal to use for hunting. Assembly was really easy and it parts fit with minimal effort. Lock works perfectly and is timed well. I appreciate that fitting takes minimal time as it allows for you to be more creative and spend more time on engraving and carving to personalize your kit. Can't wait to take it out for turkey and flintlock season!

I recently finished my .58 smoothbore Colonial, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the result. The fit and finish of the components are excellent — everything went together with confidence and precision, which made the build straightforward and enjoyable. The gun has the right heft and balance for its style, points naturally, and feels substantial in the hand without being clumsy.

I ordered a .58 Colonial smoothbore earlier this year. I've never built a gun before, I've redone older guns, secondhand CVAs I got cheap that gave me some practice, but nothing like this. So, I was nervous ordering this gun, but I went back and watched each video, several times and again before I worked on that part of the gun. I made a few minor mistakes here and there but the gun came out well, and I love it. The stock was just a standard maple but the grain is really nice for entry level. If you take your time, don't rush you can turn out a very fine gun with these kits. Let's just say this, if I can do it, anyone can. In two weeks this gun is going on the opener of squirrel season and more than likely opening day of muzzleloader for deer as well.

Kibler's kits are easy to build, they look outstanding and best of all they are tack drivers.
I am an older guy and I'm building three rifles, one for each of my three sons. Hopefully they will be passed down to future generations.

I received my colonial kit in fantastic condition. It was packed perfectly. I am in the middle of assembling it now. I am very pleased with the CNC stock. I am in a humid area and expect the wood to swell. All my parts are of the highest quality and the stock has more figure than I was expecting. This is my first kit from Kibler, but I don't expect it will be my last. I can't wait to post my pictures on the Facebook page.
