Before you build
This Quick Ship Colonial is ready to go. Here is everything that helps you build and finish it.
Building your Colonial
- Read the manual first. The Colonial instructions (PDF) and the Round-Faced English lock care sheet (PDF) are also on our PDF Instructions and Downloads page.
- Watch it step by step. The Colonial section of our Kit Assembly Video Guide matches shop videos to the steps in your manual.
- Print the specs. The spec sheet (PDF) has every measurement in one place, and the Recommended Tool List (PDF) covers what to have on the bench.
- About the lock. This rifle uses our CNC Round-Faced English lock. Our guide to Ketland and round-faced locks explains where that design comes from.
Watch other builders
- Start with the tools you'll need and finishing supplies for the Colonial.
- A full fitting series, from the barrel and trigger plate to the patchbox lid and the sights and final assembly.
- Going further: patchbox carving and a German silver star inlay.
- More builds are in the builder videos section of the guide.
These are other builders' videos. We haven't checked them, and your Kibler's manual comes first.
Made in Kensington, Ohio
- Every kit comes out of our shop in Kensington, in the same part of eastern Ohio where Jim grew up. Read how the shop got started, or meet the team.
- The design is ours and the machining is ours. The stock is CNC machined, all holes are drilled, the sight dovetails are cut, and the breech plug and tang come installed.
- See finished ones in our gallery: Rifle #17 and Rifle #18, both Colonial kits. Or read how the kit came together in Upcoming Colonial Kit Progress.
Considering other kits?
- The Colonial is our full-size American longrifle of the 1760s and 1770s, and a larger, more involved build.
- Want a lighter, friendlier first build from the same period? Look at the Woodsrunner. The Fowler is the English smoothbore of the same years. For later styles, see the Southern Mountain Rifle, Barn Gun and J.K. Hawken.

Shipping
Liquid Shipping
Liquids will not ship in the kit box. There are different regulations that apply to the chemicals that we sell and they will need to ship ground, when the kits will ship USPS Priority Mail. Plus, it would really stink if a liquid were to leak on your beautiful new kit!
Order tracking
You will receive tracking information when your item ships. For kits, you will be contacted before shipment and after shipment so there is no need to worry about a kit box shipping when you are out of town. All other packages will ship when available and you will be emailed a tracking link.
