Finished and Signed Woodrunner Rifle by Jim Kibler to be raffled September 30
This carved rifle has been beautifully finished and aged by gunsmith Jim Kibler and it is signed by him on the barrel. It is a fully functional "Woodsrunner" kit rifle that has been carved by a CNC machine in Jim's workshop and finished by hand. The lock is the very first one of Jim's Round-Faced English locks that he made and was engraved by hand with decorative markings as well as the name "Kibler". The rifle is in 54 caliber. I am 84 years old and have put together 2 precussion kits about 35 years ago. Always wanted a flintlock but was afraid to shoot one. Now I have a precious great granddaughter who loves to get involved with everything. I want to leave her (after talking to her father), a flintlock rifle. He said she would surely love it as she likes to go hunting with Him. I want to leave her a nice one so I am trying to decide exactly what I want to build , but don’t have much time left. I have only one eye. Been looking for bout a year and recently found Kibler and can hardly wait to save for a kit. Don’t know exactly what I want yet.

These carving images that you have done with the incise carving as a beginning are fantastic and inspiring.
I have another woodrunner coming from you. The beautiful one that as the extra extra fancy stock. I’m tempted to try to do the carving as you have done it in these examples. It’s a bit scary to think of doing it. I don’t want to ruin that stock but I now see the way of it.
I have studied the incise carving on my first woodsrunner to read the pattern so to develop that carving more. Your examples here have revealed to me what I needed to see as a guide. Now I have merely to be brave with my sharp carving tools. Thank you.
