Hershel House spent his life in Woodbury, Kentucky — building rifles, forging knives, and keeping the crafts of the American frontier alive. The Hershel House Woodbury School Foundation carries that forward, teaching the next generation of builders the same hand skills that defined his life.

Not based on any particular original, the architecture of this rifle is somewhat influenced by an early sliding wood box rifle attributed to Shenandoah County Virginia. The sophisticated carving is a compilation of my own ideas and details from several European examples.
Outstanding quality and wonderful carving! I have carved many rifles myself in the past but after the loss of most of my carving tools in a fire I sat this one out and let Jim do the carving by CNC. I am glad I did as its beautiful! I just completed the rifle early this week and its stunning! Thank you Jim and all of you!
