The classic English smoothbore

The Fowler is a smoothbore, and it was a common arm of the period. It is styled after the smoothbores produced in England and exported to the colonies in the 1760s and 1770s, the kind sold at general stores and among the most common firearms of the day. It is a classic English design, and it is the sort of gun an American would have carried. It is also a favorite for re-enactors.

Like the Woodsrunner, it is one of our more approachable builds. The stock is CNC machined to close tolerances, the holes are drilled, and the parts need only minimal fitting. The design is ours and the machining is ours. The hand work, and the satisfaction, are yours.

The Round-Faced English lock is included. The price you see is the complete kit price.

$1560 — Standard Maple (approx. 5-35% curl) or Cherry

$1785 — Fancy Maple (approx. 35-65% curl) or Walnut

$1985 — Extra Fancy Maple (approx. 65-90% curl)

$1500 — Customer-supplied stock

U.S. shipping typically runs around $75-$100 but varies based on location.

My first time putting a kit together

My first time putting a kit together was fairly easy most all the parts fit perfectly I only needed to remove a little wood here and there would highly recommend to anyone wanting to build a kit .

The Fowler was a pleasure to assemble and finish.

The Fowler was a pleasure to assemble and finish. Went together with easy. I feel them came out looking great. I have little gun building and finish experience, all I have came from Kobler Kits.

After they are completed, its time m e hunt and shoot. Not sure what part is best. I will continue to purchase these kits, I highly recommend them to any and all looking for a very rewarding project.

Fowler

I own three Kibler kits but have only assembled my Fowler. Very easy to put together and finish! I couldn't be happier with it! Now I'm ready to tackle my SMR and Woodarunner. I can't recommend Kibler enough.

I couldn’t be happier

This is my 3rd Kibler and I couldn’t be happier! I got it just in time to make our local rendezvous with Jefferson Long Rifles. After taking about a half dozen shots to determine where it was hitting, I went on to take 2nd place in the smooth bore woods walk. In a few weeks I will take it to a local reenactment of the Battle of Lexington and Concord. Each of my Kibler’s has won me multiple matches! They’re worth every penny and pleasure to put together!

Absolutely amazing

Absolutely amazing... Nervous to the fact that this was my first kit, but after watching a few videos and taking my time, my Fowler turned out beautiful and fits my long hunter persona perfectly. I used all the products from Kibler and it was a perfect match. Trust the process and you'll have a family heirloom. Don't hesitate.

16 gauge with walrus ivory inlay turned out great!

This thing is BOMB proof! itd be so hard to mess up putting it together, and the wood just looks STUNNING! I added a walrus ivory inlay and did some carvings, and have so far shot several squirrel, a rabbit, some doves, and a few pheasant with my 16 gauge. I think I shoot a little low with a roundball, but i have yet to do any proper testing with it using roundball

It Is All I Thought It Would Be

The Fowler is my second Kibler Kit. I can't wait to get it outdoors. I tried to get an English Walnut look. I don't try to make them look antique. That comes with use. The first one was the Woodsrunner.

The Fowler

20 ga Fowler, my second kit build. Walnut stock was a great piece of wood. The first thing I noticed was the near perfect fit of all the parts. Honestly the ramrod took the most scraper and sandpaper time but it’s perfect now. No stain, just finishing oil then wax. Beautiful and it shoots well too. Thanks Kibler

16 Ga. Fowler

Went together really well! Had a few issues browning the barrel. It all worked out, love the finished gun. It handles great and is light compared to the long rifles.

Fowler Kit

Awesome Fowler kit, Aqua fortis and a hand rubbed oil finish. Take your time and you will end up with a beautiful firearm from the Daniel Boone era. Good luck to all and thanks to the Kibler staff for a great product.

Fowler

This is my 3rd kit and maybe my favorite to build. To box showed up with half the back missing but it’s packed so well nothing was damaged. By far the best kits out there

Flintlock fowler musket

Love this gun. The finished product is beautiful and fires like a dream. Have had zero misfires so far. Customer Service was fantastic, had a small issue putting together (my fault being an amateur and impatient) and Kiblers made my mistake right with no charge and no hassle. I have a friend who is ordering one and I would highly recommend.

This is my second only kit after a lifetime of gunbuilding. My first one was a .54 Woodsrunner that I made into a proper Berks County rifle, circa 1761 (see below). The quality of the kit surpassed my greatest expectations. So, when I wanted to build a fowler, I bought a Kibler kit. Super-high quality again! I had it rough assembled in a couple of hours - see below. Now I will be able to get right to doing the things I really enjoy (finishing, carving and engraving.) without needing to spend hundreds of hours engaged in such boring and tedious work as inletting a barrel.

Double charge survivor!

So I know I'm not supposed to tell people this but here goes. My ADHD dumba** double charged the gun without thinking that maybe I had already put the powder down and also didnt think to check. 200g charge and a busted face later she is still working just as fine and accurate. Got her in cherry wood and shes taking on her red hue nicely. LOVE THIS GUN!!!

Shipping

Liquid Shipping

Liquids will not ship in the kit box. There are different regulations that apply to the chemicals that we sell and they will need to ship ground, when the kits will ship USPS Priority Mail. Plus, it would really stink if a liquid were to leak on your beautiful new kit!

Order tracking

You will receive tracking information when your item ships. For kits, you will be contacted before shipment and after shipment so there is no need to worry about a kit box shipping when you are out of town. All other packages will ship when available and you will be emailed a tracking link.
