Hershel House spent his life in Woodbury, Kentucky — building rifles, forging knives, and keeping the crafts of the American frontier alive. The Hershel House Woodbury School Foundation carries that forward, teaching the next generation of builders the same hand skills that defined his life.

Stocked in burl maple, this flintlock was likely made in the region of Florence, Italy. It bears the "Medici mark" on the barrel indicating it was part of the Medici family arms collection. A construction date of 1710-1720 seems likely. A very fine and attractive piece.
Outstanding quality and wonderful carving! I have carved many rifles myself in the past but after the loss of most of my carving tools in a fire I sat this one out and let Jim do the carving by CNC. I am glad I did as its beautiful! I just completed the rifle early this week and its stunning! Thank you Jim and all of you!
