NO RETURNS ON FLINTS
We are offering these flints at a discounted price compared to the French Amber flints that come standard with our locks. These are different and don't necessarily spark as reliably in our locks as the French Amber flints, but some folks have GREAT experiences with them and we are offering them as cheaper alternative for those that are looking to try something different.
NOTE: these flints are less uniform in size and that is part of why we are offering them for a cheaper price.
From the Manufacturer:
Made from top quality flint to ensure longevity and the very hottest spark, our hand made reproduction 18th century style gunflints are the perfect choice for shooters looking for authenticity and reliability. Each flint is hand made by a master flint knapper in the finest European tradition, utilizing techniques practiced for over 300 years.
These Look Different?
The gunflints most familiar to shooters today are known as platform or flake style flints. These represent the most modern form of flint design and manufacture. For the majority of the flintlock era. however, the flints in most common use were what are today referred to as wedge or spall type flints. Our craftsmen have resurrected this early form of gunflint and are pleased to make them available to today's traditional shooters.
Do They Work Differently? Well, yes ... and no. Our early style flints perform exactly as they did during the period of their use -from the early 1600s through to the 1780s and 1790s when their popularity waned in favor of modern platform flints. In form, the edges of wedge flints may not be as uniformly sharp as those found on platform flints, but because of the different fracturing method used to create the blades their edges may be renewed/sharpened multiple times by knapping. Additionally, our 18th century style flints often possess more than one sharp edge which may be utilized by reorienting the flint in the jaws.

When Kibler offered these up I thought I would take a chance and try them. Relatively inexpensive but have been working very for me just fine. They are not shaped quite as well as the more expensive ones, but still are held securely in my rifle, and spark as well as any flint I have used up to now. I would order them again.

Sorry, haven't used em yet.
Some were too big. 💗
The flints are usable, sizes vary but with some practice and experimenting they will keep you shooting. I’ve learned to Knapp just enough to make adjustments.
The flints I received look very serviceable. Although I have not yet had an opportunity to try any out, I believe they will give good service.
Your shipping was fast, and your company is a pleasure to deal with.
Interesting. Havent tried yet but seems good
The flints look good. I knapped a couple to carry as spares. Tested them and they spark well
Thank you for having such great flint they work splendid for my rifle and thanks for what you are doing for the muzzleloading crowd. 👍
Appears to be quality flints. Bit on smaller size. Would recommend ordering next size up.
Good flints good deal
Was work flawlessly in my Kentucky long rifle definitely will be ordering more
I have had no problem with these flints. Work good.
nice flints-fast shipment-good price
The 18th century gun flints are good quality, and both my Kibler Colonial, and Mountain Rifle run very well with them.
Lovely flints! Very happy with their quality.
Flints are good but not all are useable as is. Will try to reknapp a few . They are inexpensive enough to experiment with. I’m using one on my.50 now. Throws a decent spark but no shower.
I have not yet received the flints.
Ordered 10.....all useable. Happy with purchase......should have ordered a few more.
They work very well. Plenty of sparks.
Practical, usable, traditional, affordable flints and very colorful....make great flints for displayed flintlocks!
Good flint
The flints were inconsistent in size, some were just chert, some shattered after a few shots, some were dull out of the bag. I understand they're cheap but they're so inconsistent they may not be worth it. Some were small enough they didn't fit my lock at all, 8 out of the 20 were too short/ narrow for the gun I bought them for. I suspect they are made in India
They spark well. Some are a little wide and misshapen, but they work. I have enough guns that all are usable.
Great quality, great price
Great flints and fast shipping!
18th Century Gunflints
Purchased a dozen flints, great price, fantastic spark in my SMR. Still using the first one out of the package. 50+ shots in and still going strong. Only knapped once.
I've order flints from other sources and been given cheaper price, but half are not going to work. All the flints will work from Kibler.
