About this rifle

The J.K. Hawken is a classic plains rifle and a great first build. It follows the heavy half-stock Hawken rifles of the mid-1800s out of St. Louis and the western frontier, with double-set triggers and our CNC Hawken percussion lock. The design is ours and the machining is ours. The hand work, and the satisfaction, are yours.

Went together great

Went together great. No issues. In the process of sighting it in. Had to bend the barrel to the left a little but it’s really close.

The Kibler Hawken is a fantastic kit, superbly engineered and a dream to put together. You can't go wrong with a JK Hawken. Jim's Youtube channel will walk you through just about everything you need to know. Jim Kibler's company and staff are by far one of the most customer centric business's I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with.

I wish the lock purchase had been made a bit more clear

I wish the lock purchase had been made a bit more clear. I ignored and even deleted the invoice due to a name I did not recognise. My fault but this is a business email and I get a ton of fake invoices. O am still in the middle of unpacking from my move. I jumped on the QS #8024 because I liked the little knots in what was otherwise a great piece of wood. So I havn't really looked it over as yet. What barrel manufacturer did you supply on it?

I believe I did a great job putting together but I would have to give most credit to Jim Kibler and his team, the kit is VERY well made you can see the care that went into the choice of the wood, the parts, the packaging, how it is so tightly fitted with all the parts. The finishing is where you can get creative and the Kibler site has it all and everything is fairly priced. This is a rare modern occasion of how things use to be in America, built in the USA really shines with Jim Kibler.
Other American businesses should follow. Save up and buy the best, you won't need anything else and never be afraid to build your own, tons of support on youtube and just common sense.

Liquid Shipping

Liquids will not ship in the kit box. There are different regulations that apply to the chemicals that we sell and they will need to ship ground, when the kits will ship USPS Priority Mail. Plus, it would really stink if a liquid were to leak on your beautiful new kit!
